How do we survive the loss of a character? It hurts so bad!

30 Mar

A few weeks ago, it was announced that Tyler Hoechlin- “Derek” on MTV’s Teen Wolf– would be leaving the show. Now, it makes sense as his character was pushed out of a central role in the last season and half because there are a ton of teens on the show (and the actor reportedly wants freedom to do more movies) but… Derek is one of the reasons I watch the show.

Without him, will I continue to watch? Continue reading

ARROW Season 3×17, “Suicidal Tendencies” recap

26 Mar

arrow302Welcome back, Arrowheads! Last we left Team Arrow, Ollie got offered the President of the League of Assassins job by Ra’s al Ghul. He turned it down, but Ra’s is making certain Ollie’s going to take the job, staging fake Arrow-centric killings or not. Ra’s daughter Nyssa is also taking care of business, by training Laurel to be less of a sloppy fighter. But hey, right now Ollie has to get his tux cleaned off, because he has to be the best man at Diggle’s (second) wedding to Lyla! Continue reading

Stargate SG-1 Minicaps / Season 2, Eps. 17-20

The Stargate SG-1 Season Two Minicaps only used that extra Gate once, and it was for business purposes only.

The Stargate SG-1 Season Two Minicaps once body swapped with the Stargate Infinity animated series. It rather not talk about it.

So previously: we’ve discovered Apophis has been on the decline in power, he tried to get a son born to be a new host, and we’ve learned a bit more about the Asgardians and the Ancients. Now that we got that done, let’s go through the gate for another round of minicaps… Continue reading

A little diamond in the rough- Tulare SciFi Con

22 Mar

Recently, we had the opportunity to attend a new regional convention- the Tulare SciFi Con, in Tulare, California. The convention is new in the way that this was its second year- and we were informed by several vendors and attendees that it had grown immensely since last year.

ARROW Season 3×16, “The Offer” recap

19 Mar

arrow302

Welcome back from that brief break, Arrowheads! A lot of things went down last episode, so let’s just hit the big bullet points. Ray Palmer got his ATOM suit working along with his mojo by sleeping with Felicity. Thea gave up dear ol’ dad to the League of Assassins, and when that wasn’t enough to cure her of that whole “murdering a friend’s sister under the influence of mind-altering drugs” guilt, she offered herself up to Nyssa. Ollie and Diggle went to retrieve Malcolm from Nanda Parbat, but got captured. And then, we discover Ollie’s last experience with Ra’s was the world’s deadliest job interview, because Oliver Queen was offered the job of being the head of the League. Hopefully the League has a good dental plan.

So previously, SG-1 managed to secure an alliance with some good Goa’ulds in the fight against Apophis and the System Lords. Of course, Carter’s dad is now a host for one of these Tok’ra, but considering he was dying, it’s not the worst alternative. Also, we ran into the actual Asgardians, who look like little gray aliens. So, let’s see where the next jump through the gate is going to take us… Continue reading

As Long As I Don’t Wear Tights or Spandex, Issue 9 — SCUD, THE DISPOSABLE ASSASSIN

SCUD, THE DISPOSABLE ASSASSIN by Rob Schrab (Image / collected)

Among the big indie comics of the 90’s (like Jeff Smith’s Bone and Terry Moore’s Strangers in Paradise), there is a nice little footnote in writer/artist Rob Schrab’s Scud, The Disposable Assassin. Born of all things, by being dumped by a girl, this book around the latter half of the 90’s became a big indie success, spawned a video game, and was even optioned for a big Hollywood movie. But by the time the new decade rolled around, any new Scud issues had disappeared from comic shop shelves. Once again, heartbreak was behind this, but we’ll get there. Continue reading

Let’s just make this quick: Teal’c has rescued his family, we found with Daniel that you need to say “no” to sarcophaguses besides drugs, and Carter’s Tok’ra possession has left her with some surprising new abilities and knowledge of the Goa’uld. And O’Neill has had the crap knocked out of him more than once. Just another day at the office for SG-1, I guess. So, back to it then… Continue reading

Television Graveyard- plot 12, The Flash

4 Mar

Back in the 1980’s and early 90’s, network TV did it’s best to bring audiences superheroes. Looking back on these shows, knowing what today’s special effects can do… these shows were cheesy and cartoonish. BUT that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth your time.

In this installment we look back on 1990’s, The Flash.
