Take a trip with This American Journey

24 Feb

The first thing you need to know when planning a trip? Where the best diners are. And that is exactly how the route for the cross country trek at the center of Paul Blackthorne’s This American Journey begins. Which tells me that I picked the right film to watch.

Are you the Maze Runner who can get them all out?

4 Feb

Finally had a chance to catch up on some DVDs recently. Top of the list was Maze Runner– not because I’d read the book but more because I liked the preview and Dylan O’Brien was starring. I like that boy on Teen Wolf.

Into The Woods we go again…

7 Jan

In the late 1980’s, Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” premiered on Broadway. In 1991, it was produced for television. On a personal level, I first saw it on a local stage in 1991 and fell head over heels. However, the Bernedette Peters version will always be the ultimate production.

Awkward! Don’t forget the importance of music!

12 Sep

Have you ever watched the deleted scenes on a DVD and scene your favorite characters having a conversation in a dance club? Awkward! It’s nothing but the dialogue fighting to be heard over the shuffling feet of extras pretending to look sexy while dancing with no music.

It should be pointed out that there is an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer were there is no background music- when Joyce dies- but it’s still gone through post production and had those awkward none relevant sounds removed so as not to pull focus from the rest of the emotionally driven episode. My Summer Viewing (so far…)

19 Aug

Stewart here…

Look, I expected to have a good amount of time this summer to do a few things, like prep for recapping the next season of Arrow and possibly The Flash for NerdLush this fall, getting caught up on my Smallville minicaps (seriously, I fell way behind thanks to season 7), catch up on shows I have in my back catalogue (I would take this time to discuss watching all of Banshee, but really, that’s NOT for this site)…BUT NOOOOOOO!  There’s got to be some good programming put out during this time.  Anyway, here’s some of my favorite new shows I’ve checked out over the summer (along with some brief criticism): Continue reading
