Welcome back, Arrowheads! Last we left Team Arrow, Ollie got offered the President of the League of Assassins job by Ra’s al Ghul. He turned it down, but Ra’s is making certain Ollie’s going to take the job, staging fake Arrow-centric killings or not. Ra’s daughter Nyssa is also taking care of business, by training Laurel to be less of a sloppy fighter. But hey, right now Ollie has to get his tux cleaned off, because he has to be the best man at Diggle’s (second) wedding to Lyla! Continue reading

ARROW Season 3×16, “The Offer” recap
19 MarWelcome back from that brief break, Arrowheads! A lot of things went down last episode, so let’s just hit the big bullet points. Ray Palmer got his ATOM suit working along with his mojo by sleeping with Felicity. Thea gave up dear ol’ dad to the League of Assassins, and when that wasn’t enough to cure her of that whole “murdering a friend’s sister under the influence of mind-altering drugs” guilt, she offered herself up to Nyssa. Ollie and Diggle went to retrieve Malcolm from Nanda Parbat, but got captured. And then, we discover Ollie’s last experience with Ra’s was the world’s deadliest job interview, because Oliver Queen was offered the job of being the head of the League. Hopefully the League has a good dental plan.

ARROW Season 3×15, “Nanda Parbat” recap
26 FebWelcome back, Arrowheads! A lot has gone on in Starling City since Ollie has come back (again), and most of it involves family. Thea knows about his secret vigilante persona (which she takes well) and that Malcolm made her kill Sara (which she takes badly). I have a bad feeling she’s not going to handle this alliance with her crazy father against Ra’s al Ghul very well. Meanwhile, Ollie is becoming aware he’s part of a team now than just being a team leader, Felicity is full-on helping Ray Palmer with his ATOM exo suit, and Laurel’s dad is a bit broken by a number of things that have come to light. Things are getting really dicey around Team Arrow, aren’t they? Continue reading →

Take a trip with This American Journey
24 FebThe first thing you need to know when planning a trip? Where the best diners are. And that is exactly how the route for the cross country trek at the center of Paul Blackthorne’s This American Journey begins. Which tells me that I picked the right film to watch.
But that is the last simple moment of the film- everything after… digs deeper. Continue reading →

ARROW Season 3×14, “The Return” recap
18 FebWelcome back, Arrowheads! So, Thea knows about Oliver being the Arrow! Quentin knows about Laurel being the Canary and Sara being dead! While Quentin might be off to get a drink (which, uh-oh), Ollie and Thea go off to train on Lian Yu! Also, we find out in those five years missing, Ollie has been back to Starling City, but for what?

ARROW Season 3×13, “Canaries” recap
12 FebWelcome back, Arrowheads! So Ollie’s back in town to help Team Arrow, who managed to do okay without him. Then there’s Ollie aligning himself with Malcolm Merlyn so they can fight Ra’s al Ghul when he comes for them. Oh, and Thea’s DJ buddy Chase, is a League assassin. Plus, how’s Ollie going to take another woman he slept with becoming a vigilante wearing her sister’s outfit? Well, let’s all find out… Continue reading →

ARROW Season 3×12, “Uprising” recap
5 FebWelcome back, Arrowheads! So, Mr. Brickwell has managed to force the cops of Starling out of the Glades, despite the Black Canary/Laurel Lance helped Team Arrow trying their best to prevent that. Malcolm wants to skip town, but Thea is willing to stay and maybe face Ra’s and his League with dear old double-crossing dad. And Ollie has survived his duel with Ra’s with the help of Maseo and a seemingly estranged Tatsu. Well, here’s hoping he gets back soon, because Starling City is getting pummeled in bad news… Continue reading →

ARROW Season 3×04, “The Magician” recap
30 OctWelcome back, Arrowheads! Last time we left everyone, Ollie took a trip out of town to bring Thea back home, who was unknown to Ollie, being trained by noted psychopath Malcolm Merlyn. Malcolm let her go, but who knows what that means. Seriously, he’s crazy. This was a brief break from the ongoing mystery of Sara’s murder, which was still having ripples through everyone. Felicity had taken Ray Palmer’s job at Queen Consolidated, and Laurel attempted her own vigilante thing and asking for help in training, which got a major “NO” from Ollie and a “sure” from boxer Ted Grant. And just when Ollie was getting over the jet lag, Nyssa shows up wondering what happened to Sara. Oooooh, this is going to an uncomfortable talk…

ARROW Season 3×03, “Corto Maltese” recap
22 OctWelcome back, Arrowheads! Last time we were here, Team Arrow was searching for Sara’s killer, and despite stopping a deadly archer assassin, got no joy and not Sara’s killer. I suppose we’ll get to that eventually, but there’s other things to mention before we get to this episode. For instance, Laurel keeping Sara’s death a secret from dad (he has a heart condition!), Felicity taking Ray Palmer’s new high paying job, and Ollie finding out Thea’s not so much “on extended vacation”, but “just getting away from everyone”, and deciding to bring her home. I’m sure finding out about Thea will be nothing in comparison to when he finds out his baby sister is being taught to fight by Malcolm Merlyn! Yeah, the mass murderer and not dead Malcolm Merlyn! I smell an awkward reunion on the horizon… Continue reading →

Television Graveyard- plot 8, The Gates
19 MayOne of the great things about the end of the “normal” TV season is that it gives a chance to sit back and enjoy, via Hulu or Netflix, a show that ended years ago or that you may have missed. In my case, I have been enjoying a short lived supernatural series from 2010- The Gates.
