29 Jan

Welcome back, Arrowheads! So good news, everyone: Oliver Queen’s alive! Maseo and Tatsu are healing him up in a cabin, so he’s not aware of the crapstorm building up in Star City. The rest of Team Arrow seems to be splintered thanks to their boss being gone. Malcolm wants to take Thea before Ra’s shows up. Criminal “Brick” has enough manpower to lay siege to the Glades. But, there is one good thing that happens: Laurel gets into a Canary suit and starts fighting bad guys! So let’s get this party started… Continue reading

ARROW Season 3×10, “Left Behind” recap

21 Jan

Welcome back, Arrowheads! Hope you enjoyed the hiatus over the last month or so, but I have some bad news for you…Oliver Queen is dead. Yeah, the titular Arrow was killed in a mountain duel by Ra’s al Ghul (or possibly killed by that drop of that cliff, but let’s not dwell on that yet), protecting Thea, who got brainwashed by Malcolm Merlyn to kill Sara. Add to this, Ollie discovers Thea got some mad fighting skills, his mentor in Hong Kong years ago, Maseo, just got his membership in the League of Assassins, and if he doesn’t fight Ra’s, the evidence that Thea killed Sara will be released, sentencing her to death by the League (because that’s what dads do for their kids, I guess). And Felicity is discovering her new boss has a super-secret supersuit program he wants her to help in. So I guess the show’s over, which begs the question: if the show’s minus Arrow, shouldn’t we rename this show Diggle and Company? I mean Ollie’s dead, right? RIGHT? Continue reading

ARROW Season 3×06, “Guilty” recap

12 Nov

arrow302

Welcome back, Arrowheads! So things are getting a bit complicated, with everyone doing their own white lies. Thea is using Malcolm Merlyn’s money to buy back the Verdant and a killer apartment for her and Ollie to be roomies in, but is neglecting to mention her secret training with Malcolm. Laurel is training with boxer Ted Grant to deal with her anger issues, but is not telling her dad that Sara is dead. And then there’s Roy, who has been having some sleep trouble, probably related to him dreaming she killed Sara! But did he? And if he did, why? Continue reading

ARROW Season 3×04, “The Magician” recap

30 Oct

Welcome back, Arrowheads! Last time we left everyone, Ollie took a trip out of town to bring Thea back home, who was unknown to Ollie, being trained by noted psychopath Malcolm Merlyn. Malcolm let her go, but who knows what that means. Seriously, he’s crazy. This was a brief break from the ongoing mystery of Sara’s murder, which was still having ripples through everyone. Felicity had taken Ray Palmer’s job at Queen Consolidated, and Laurel attempted her own vigilante thing and asking for help in training, which got a major “NO” from Ollie and a “sure” from boxer Ted Grant. And just when Ollie was getting over the jet lag, Nyssa shows up wondering what happened to Sara. Oooooh, this is going to an uncomfortable talk…

Guilty Pleasures- MTV’s Teen Wolf

2 Jun

For some time, my young friend Marina (who I have known since she was knee high to a grasshopper) has been recommending that I watch MTV’s Teen Wolf (at this point I should note that the rec actually comes from her mom, who recc’ed it to her, but that’s not the point). I always said I’d get around to it… eventually.

Well, now that I have free time and my fav shows are on hiatus, I finally have the time to watch those genre shows I’ve been putting off… And Amazon Prime having the complete series (so far) streaming for free was a pretty good push to put Teen Wolf towards the top of my list.

And what can I say- I am not above enjoying a show that has pretty guys running around shirtless (especially since this happens much more often than the girls showing skin- props to MTV).

I stayed up too late the other night to finish my marathon and am now super sad that I have to wait for the next season! Which, by the way, starts on June 23rd.

Television Graveyard- plot 8, The Gates

19 May

One of the great things about the end of the “normal” TV season is that it gives a chance to sit back and enjoy, via Hulu or Netflix, a show that ended years ago or that you may have missed. In my case, I have been enjoying a short lived supernatural series from 2010- The Gates.
