ARROW Season 2×03, “Broken Dolls” recap

29 Oct

Welcome back!  Last time, Ollie was busy setting up his new version of crimefighting while trying to establish himself running the family company.  And he’s running into problems on both ends of that: on the public end from pro-Glades boosters like Sebastian Blood, and from Laurel, who has it out for our hooded hero.  And in a case of “good idea, wrong timing”, Ollie heads to Laurel’s office to reason with her.  Her response is a heavily armed team of cops leaving him with nowhere to go.  So, um, we’re about to get an awkward reveal to Laurel, aren’t we? Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  See what I did there?  It’s a play on…sigh…you know, I should just recap what happened so far.  Diggle and Felicity track down Ollie on the island he was stranded on years ago, who’s in self-imposed exile since the Glades was left in ruins.  He’s brought back to save his family’s company from being bought out, by its also to get him back into protecting Starling City.  He agrees to, but wants to do it in a new way: one that doesn’t involve killing his enemies. Welcome to the first of what will (fingers crossed) be a regular thing here at NerdLush as I recap the second season of Arrow!   Before we start this up, some quick housekeeping and a brief explanation why this is coming in so late: due to circumstances beyond my control (or “moving and having my internet offline” as they call it), I had no time to review the season premiere (and the following episode) until now.  If you read my previous posts on the show, you know the first season ended on a pretty dramatic note for everyone involved.  So with that, let’s check in on Starling City and see how things have gone during this hiatus… Continue reading

My Catch-Up on ARROW, Part 2: Thoughts on the first season

7 Oct

arrow-season2-poster

Earlier this year, I talked about my thoughts on Arrow during its mid-season hiatus, and with the second season about to premiere this month, I thought it would be fitting to reflect back on some of the pluses and minuses of season one.  There are some spoilers, so catch up before you read this: Continue reading

San Diego Comic-con 2013- ARROW panel/ Q&A

24 Jul

At San Diego Comic-con 2012, one of things that I looked forward to was the preview and panel for the CW’s Arrow. We caught the pilot presentation twice and loved it both times- and as you know, the first season was my guilty pleasure show this past year. So, of course we had to catch the season 2 panel. They ran a short sizzle trailer and then we got to the fun… Pardon the shakiness of the video (my brother was the camera guy and I don’t think he is used to having to hold a camera steady that long). Guilty Pleasures- To Sin With TV

30 Apr

I’ve had a lot going on of late, so it’s been difficult to work my way through it all in order to write a post. Apologies. Thankfully, my favorite minion has been on the ball! But I’m pulling it together today in order to start new series of posts- Guilty Pleasures. Like the title says, these are things that I love and adore, but I feel a little guilty for enjoying it. I obviously have a lot of these- you already know of my love for the bad movie but here are some more.

Actually, to ease into it… I’m just going to talk about the TV series from this last season that I consider my guilty pleasures. Continue reading

My Catch-Up on ARROW

22 Jan

In the interest of full disclosure, let’s just get this fact cleared up: even with the good news I heard about it and having some interest in the character, I had no interest in watching the CW’s Arrow.  In all fairness, those reasons were pretty much image-based: mainly a CW show starring a hunky guy with a title that thought the usage of “Green” wasn’t edgy enough.  On the other hand, the CW has managed to do some decent genre shows besides the usual sudsy teen/20-ish dramas the network has been known for, like Supernatural and Nikita, but my schedule was a bit heavy that I hadn’t been able to catch up until now.  The show came back earlier this month, so I thought I should check it out.
