Clark managed to avoid getting beamed up to wherever with Zod and the Kandorians, but still has a lot more problems to deal with on Earth. There’s the warnings of a great evil coming, and Jor-El feels Clark isn’t ready to fight it. Then there’s a shady government guy who’s tagging and monitoring superheroes. Then there’s Chloe faking her death and going into hiding. Then there’s Oliver revealing he’s Green Arrow to the public. Then there’s Lois knowing Clark’s secret unbeknownst to him. Then there’s the anti-vigilante push starting to simmer. And even then, there’s the Lex clone that Tess is secretly raising. Man, here’s hoping this round of minicaps gets him a break. Last season, Clark Kent went through a lot of changes.  He’s embracing his role as a hero in Metropolis, he’s embracing a relationship with Lois, and he’s embracing being a mentor to a bunch of kryptonians like him that have arrived on Earth.  Mucking up things for Mr. Kent was Zod, whose twisted need to dominate humanity was barely stopped as the Kandorians were taken to a new home.  The downside was by season’s end, Tess was left burnt and possibly dead, Oliver swarmed by some unknown force, and Clark was stabbed with a blue kryptonite dagger (which also prevented him from being sent on the Kandorians travel bus like Zod and company).  Well, let’s get into the final season of Smallville, shall we, people? The Smallville season 9 minicaps has been brought to you by Body by Zod. Kneel before Zod, do ab crunches before Zod…

This season, Clark started a bit of a special project: to help the displaced Kandorians (well, clones of Kandorians to be fair) find a home of their own on Earth. But, there was a snag in the Kandorians’ leader, Zod. He wanted his people to rule over humanity and because of this, went a little bit nuts. Like “accidentally killed his wife and unborn child and then lied about it to jump start the domination of humanity”. So, Clark has to contend with a small gaggle of people with his super powers, while finding a mythical kryptonian artifact, the Book of Rao, that could have the power to stop this.

Before I forget, Checkmate is in ruins, the mysterious Red Queen is still out there, and Lois and Clark are out of jobs. Soooo, that just about covers it. Let’s see how this season ends… Continue reading

Last we left everyone, we had a few surprises. One was Chloe and Oliver becoming way more than just friends, if you know what I mean. Another comes when Clark saved Zod from dying with some of his super blood. I’m sure Zod feels grateful for that, except now he’s using the Blur’s secret identity to get Lois to unwillingly spy on everyone. Oh, and he can fly. Barely a few hours with powers, and he can fly. That happened. So let’s see how that and that mysterious group Checkmate fit into things in this installment… Continue reading

We get opened to a lot of big reveals from last time.  There were other super heroes known as the Justice Society of America, who are now reforming thanks to Clark’s help.  John Jones has managed to get his Martian powers back, Lois is finally clear of those creepy memories of the future, and Tess is revealed to be an agent of the shadowy government group Checkmate, who wants to do more than just keep tabs on our heroes.  And also, Clark tries to prevent the dark future Lois saw by making nice with Zod and the Kandorians.  Let’s see how badly this goes…  Continue reading

Last time, Clark’s attempt to be a full-time hero hit some big snags.  One is the arrival of Zod and his Kandorian army, not as powerful as Clark, and still under the kryptonian’s radar.  Another is the return of Lois from where or whenever she’s been, and the nightmarish visions she’s having.  And then there’s Oliver, who’s been in a bit of a downward spiral of late that seems to be getting worse.  Plus, now that Chloe is in charge of Watchtower, she’s been getting really secretive and kind of manipulative.  And Tess is trying to figure out what Zod is up to, along with watching Clark.  So, that’s everything, I think.  I mentioned the person appearing in a landing site marked with the House of El crest, right?  Oh.  Well let’s get to that, then… Continue reading

Last season, the whole Davis Bloome/Doomsday storyline ended with both man and monster separated, and yet, both of them meeting quick demises.  But Clark and company still faced a lot of grief over what happened, like Jimmy’s death, Clark and Oliver turning against each other in deciding Davis’s fate, and Clark deciding to ditch being Clark Kent to be a full-time superhero.  On the other end, Lois vanished into what we assume is the future, and Tess has heralded the arrival of Zod to Earth.  So where do we start up this season? The whole Davis Bloome/Doomsday thing is starting to swing out of control, now that all our heroes (and villains) are aware what kind of threat he is. Not that Davis tries to take himself out of the equation, but that attempt just doesn’t work. Now Chloe is sheltering Davis in a crazy attempt to save both Davis and Clark from destroying one another. And meanwhile, Oliver is helping out Jimmy with a stable job besides pill-popping maniac, while dealing with his own guilt over killing Lex. Plus, Tess has some other odd kryptonian orb that I’m sure won’t be another world-ending calamity in the making. OK, who are we kidding? It pretty much will be. So, let’s jump in…

Chloe has been infected by Brainiac, and after her wedding gets crashed by Davis as a giant rock monster, that illness has to finally be dealt with by Clark (with some help of some 31st century heroes).  Before Chloe gets downgraded from her Brainiac powers, she gets in touch with Davis about that pesky thing where he’s a kryptonian super weapon and meant to destroy Clark and humanity.  Add to that, Jimmy’s been hospitalized because of Davis’ rampage, and Lana has reappeared in town.  A lot of stuff for Clark to handle in this round of minicaps, especially with Lex being alive and not so well.  So, let’s jump in… Continue reading

Clark’s starting to become a hero (if in secret) around Metropolis, and that’s bound to get some attention for the nervous Mr. Kent.  But he embraces it, and probably good timing too because things in town are getting weird.  Chloe has started to become creepy super-genius, Tess is getting really interested in Lex’s obsession with kryptonian stuff, and Davis has found out he might be a kryptonian WMD whose meant to lay waste to Earth.  Plus, Lois is totally not interested in him.  What?  She isn’t!
