NerdLush lives! kind of…

Life has been chaos for this little blogger. Following the pandemic, work stuff has been exhausting me to the point I haven’t been able to even begin to watch movies, catch up on TV shows, or much else. I do make time to read though, so at least that’s something.

Along with my own chaos, our favorite minion Stewart has moved on to his own things- I want him to know the door here is always open. I miss him, but the pandemic did a number on relationships. Lee is off living life in England and Emily ran away to a farm in the PNW. D2 and all the rest (Charity, Natasha, and everyone else who has a home here forever) have had their ups and down and I think we are all trying to just survive the current insanity that we face every day. It’s exhausting.

Anyways, they always have a home here, if they want it. But I need to be more active.

Like I said, I have been reading though. I think I wrote an earlier post about how important reading is. I can’t recall if I shared that my genres for reading have changed and why, so briefly let me say this- I have 3 degrees, that I completed pretty quickly together. For the graduate degrees, there was a lot of reading and writing and researching and studying. For years. It made me not want to read ever again. I used to be a voracious reader- my room growing up had a wall covered in books! I loved mysteries and supernatural and action and science fiction. I read all the books from some authors. I loved it. I moved with boxes of books just because I couldn’t bear to not have them. But for years during and after all of that studying, I just couldn’t. I couldn’t open a book. I couldn’t even be bothered. The idea made me anxious.

But in the autumn of 2023, I saw a movie, “Red, White, and Royal Blue”. And I needed to read the book. So I did. Devoured it. And then picked up more and more. But I had switched to romance. Lots of smutty romance. I found that audiobooks were (are) the perfect distraction on the commute for work. Picking up a real book (e-books are for traveling… I like the feel and smell of books) in the evening as move from everything of the day towards sleep. I generally have at least 2 books that I am reading at a time.

It helps that I have several friends that either read the same things, want to read them, or are just getting started. Which is where Kiss & Tell came from. It’s a book review instagram with my dear Kristen. A… bookstagram if you will. We just started it in the new year and are growing every day. It helps motivate me to keep reading. So does my personal challenge to read 110 books this year (I am already over halfway done with that…). Check it out, if you are so inclined. But… it’s romance.

Anyways, like I said, I haven’t seen any movies or new TV shows this year. I think the last movie I saw was the 3rd Deadpool. And while I started the TV season with a few new shows, I lost interest during breaks. Though I will catch up eventually.

Which leads me to ask… what do I need to watch?

What do you think?
