All The Nomz: The cookbook for hungry geeks

23 Jun

For the last 6 months I have been working with two great people (David and Marian) on a very exciting project that was born out of a discussion about carrots with Alaskan Folk singer Marian Call. Yes carrots.

It’s been a very quick 6 months that has been challenging (in a good way), exciting and a little frustrating (stupid HDD failure). None of us had worked together before, heck we’d only know each other a couple of months and met once in Geneva for Marian Call’s CERN concert before diving into this crazy thing.

So what exactly is this crazy plan of world dominat…..I mean crazy awesome geeky charity cookbook thingy with awesome people in it all about?

Well, All The Nomz! is an e-cookbook that features recipes from famous geeks around the world, which includes such people as Marian Call, Sandeep Parikh, Joseph Scrimshaw, Tara Platt, Yuri Lowenthal, Beth Revis, Nerdlush’s own Elizabeth Ann and many, many more. A full list can be found here.

The aim of All The Nomz! is to raise money for the Child’s Play Charity. Child’s Play is a great charity which works with Children’s hospitals around the world to bring games, consoles, toys, books and more to children undergoing and recovering from treatment.

Our site www.allthenomz.com is the place to go for information. We have details on who we are, what we’re doing and why, details on our contributors and sponsors, competitions and auctions and of course a donation page to help a great cause and get a great book in return. You can also preview the book here.

When you donate through our site you’ll receive an automatic email from us with a link to download your copy of the book. When you donate the money will go directly into Child’s Plays account, we don’t touch a penny of it.

All we’re asking for is a minimum donation of $5 to help a great cause and in return you’ll get a cookbook filled with over 70 pages with some wonderful recipes and some quite heartwarming and funny stories from our contributors as they open hearts and lives to us.

The book will only be available in digital format for now in pdf but we do hope to be able to have printed versions of the book in the future. There will however be one printed copy, which will remain in my possession (and may be auctioned off at some point with all the contributors’ autographs on it), if you’re in the Birmingham, England area on June 23rd then pop down to The Tower of Song because I will have the book with me there, plus Lobelia Lawson who provided us with 2 recipes has a concert at 8pm with Midlands artist Louise Petit.

If you have any questions for us, hit us up on our Facebook and Twitter pages and please spread the word because we’d love to do another book and continue to support Child’s Play for many years to come.

Oh and that all important day to mark in your diaries, Friday 28th June. Can’t wait for you all to see it.
