Excited to say that we are finally heading out to a convention this year. I know, it’s November and it’s the first event we’re attending but there’s been a drop in local events this year and while there are major events all over the country from conventions we love (like Wizard World) that have been on our interest list, spotlighting smaller events is a bit of a passion. You’d think that California would be able to support more events in the Central Valley but sadly, the numbers have dropped sharply in the last two years.
But this isn’t a sad post… this is a post to state that Bakersfield Comic-Con is this weekend.
That’s right, the convention that The Big Bang Theory boys made treks from Pasadena to attend.
Pretty excited to check it out as it’s in it’s twelfth year and I had no idea it existed. I mean, yeah, it was namechecked on the TBBT, but I honestly thought it was fictional. Color me surprised when a few months ago John Wesley Shipp posted about upcoming conventions and one was in our backyard! D’oh!
So I know it’s a little last minute, but if you’re in the SoCal area or the Central Valley, time to take a little day trip and check out this event with me.
I will be hunting for the John Wesley Shipp autograph, for my exclusive TV Dad collection, but there’s also a few other interesting media guests and a couple of artists on the list that surprised me.
